India’s Asian Games campaign has come to an end but it ended up on a good note as India’s men’s four and quadruple sculls team won bronze medals on Monday, September 25, 2023, Indian Men’s four who won bronze medal Punit Kumar, Ashish, Bheem Singh, and Jaswinder Singh. India Men’s four-team was tagged 500m and 1000m at the fourth position when our boys went past the Japanese team and finished behind Uzbekistan and China. The Indian quartet were fourth in the final 500m of the 2000m race but their brilliance won them a bronze. The quartet clocked 6 mins and 10.81 secs. In the men’s fours event, Uzbekistan won the gold medal with a timing of 6 mins and 4.96 secs while China finished in the second position on the podium with a time of 6 mins and 10.04 secs. India lost to China by 0.77 secs.
The Indian rowers continued to shine on Day 2 after winning three medals for India on Day 1 of the Asian Games 2023. The Indian men’s rowing team clinched two more bronze to start Day 2 on a positive note. The quartet of Bheem Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Ashish Goliyan, and Punit Kumar secured the bronze in the men’s fours event. Talking about the men’s quadruple sculls team, it consisted of Parminder Singh, Satnam Singh, Sukhmeet Singh, and Jakar Khan. The men’s quadruple sculls team also clinched a bronze with their best timing of 6 minutes and 8.61 seconds. China won the gold with a time of 6 minutes and 2.65 seconds, While, Uzbekistan defeated India to bag the silver with a timing of 6 minutes and 4.64 minutes.
The Indian rowers already had created history on Day 1 as the men’s doubles sculls pair of Arvind Singh and Arjun Lal Jat won a silver medal in Men’s Lightweight Doubles Sculls, finishing in 6 minutes and 28.18 seconds in Final A. Earlier on Day 1, the Indian Men’s Coxed Eight team also clinched a silver, while the Men’s Pair of Lekh Ram and Babu Lal Yadav secured a bronze medal. As of Sunday, India won five medals in rowing.
