Punjab farmers are in the headlines again. All the farmers from Punjab have announced the three days “rail roko”. This is a protest which has been started from today. We have seen many times that the farmers from Punjab are protesting. They do protest for their rights. Some years ago they did their last protest during the time of COVID-19 and now again in 2023 all the farmers have gathered with each other and have standards for doing the protest. The farmers from Punjab have started a new protest named “rail roko”. This protest started on 28th September 2023, Thursday and it is going to continue till the end of 30th September 2023, Saturday. This is a three-day protest by the Punjab farmers. They are doing this protest to support their demands. Their demands include a financial package for the losses which are caused because of the recent floods, a legal guarantee for a debt waiver, and an MSP. This protest decision was announced by the Kisa  Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee general secretary, Sarwan Singh Pandher. A lot of farmers from Punjab are participating in the protest. It has been said that some outfits from Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana are also going to support the farmers from Punjab in this protest. Pandher claimed that the farmers are now demanding a financial package for flood-affected people in North India. Pandher further said that the protest will be held in a total of 12 places which include Punjab Moga, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Tarn Taran, Patiala, Ferozepur, Amritsar, Bathinda, and Jalandhar. Many farmers support the protest which includes the Bharti Kisan Union, Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, Bharti Kisan Union, Kisan Mahapanchayat (Haryana), The Rashtriya Kisan Sanghathan (Himachal Pradesh), Bhoomi Bachao Muhim (Uttrakhand), Pagri Sambhal Jatta (Haryana), Progressive Farmer Front (Uttar Pradesh), and Azaad Kisan Committee Doaba, In the early of September a group of approx 100 farmer staged the protest “rai roko” agitation in the western Maharashtra Sangliu district over issues which are related to the acquisition of land by the railways.
