The most anticipated cricket tournament, the ICC ODI World Cup is going to start today at 2 pm when New Zealand will take on the challenge of defending champions England at the renovated Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The first match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is scheduled to be played on Thursday, October 5, 2023. A day prior to the inaugural match of the tournament, a ceremony was held which was attended by the captains of all the ten teams participating in it. The captain of ten teams discussed their teams’ strategies and preparations. Meanwhile, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, and England captain Jos Buttler were in the spotlight during the discussion but South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma fell asleep during the meeting.
Rohit and Babar Discussed Their Preparations
The Indian skipper talked about the pressure on his side to perform as they are hosts this time. He further said that he and his boys would give their best to win the tournament on home soil. Not to mention, Rohit Sharma was the center of attention when the media representatives grilled the captain with questions. However, the captains of Pakistan, England, and Australia were also captivating the spotlight by discussing their preparations. The similarity among all the teams’ preparations was everyone wanted to remain positive throughout the tournament.

When Babar Azam was asked about the pressure of playing in India, he said there is not much pressure and the conditions are similar to Pakistan, He went on to add that the only difference is the boundaries are short which gives a margin for error for bowlers. The Indian skipper said in reply to the question it is the biggest challenge of his career, that the team very well knows what’s at stake and they know the pressure but they are focused on their preparations and not worried about the outside noise.
Babar Azam Speaks About Playing Against India
Pakistani skipper Babar Azam seemed very excited to play against India. He said that they have to play two games before clashing with India. Hence, they would take one game at a time and try to execute it. Babar added, “We are excited to play against India but we have two more matches to play before that.
