Ila Arun lauded Vidya Balan’s amazing screen presence, embodying the grace, and elegance reminiscent of legendary actresses like Meena Kumari. After this, Ila Arun also talked about Vidya Balan’s adaptability to work in front of the camera and also discussed the time when they worked together on a project titled “Begum Jaan”.
Arun said that she cannot forget how impressed she was when she saw Vidya Balan in ‘Parineeta.’ Vidya was looking different from all the other actresses. At that time, Vidya was a mature woman while having the beauty and significance of the actresses of old times, particularly Meena Kumari. Vidya brought back the dignity of the original Parineeta, the beautiful Meena Kumari. According to Ila Arun, Vidya represents the heroines of all eras of Hindi films. Vidya has an expressive face that effortlessly speaks volumes. In addition, she also has a resemblance to a Bengali woman.
Vidya was too young to play the role of the madam of a kotha in Begum Jaan. A similar role in Mandi was played by Shabana who looked the part because she was a seasoned actress. Shabana also had to gain weight to play the role but for Vidya, it was a big challenge to play a role like this at a young age. At that time Arun told Vidya that she saw Meena Kumari in her and she should do Sahib Biwi Aur Ghulam 1962 as Vidya would be the right choice for the role. To conclude the event, Ila Arun gave a beautiful performance which was also joined by Vidya Balan to celebrate the enduring spirit of women in the entertainment industry.
