Amid the ongoing war between Israel-Hamas, both sides are not leaving any stone unturned to garner support in their favor. Apparently, the countries have divided into two groups; while one section visibly sympathizes with the Israelis, the others speak for Palestine. Nevertheless, the ICC World Cup 2023 in India could not remain untouched by this. A few days ago, Pakistan star batsman Mohammad Rizwan showed solidarity toward Gaza and dedicated Pakistan’s historic victory over Sri Lanka in which Mohammad Rizwan scored a ton and scripted a history of chasing the highest total in the World Cup, to the people of Gaza.
Mohammad Rizwan took to his official X (formerly X) account to write, “This was for our brothers and sisters in Gaza. Happy to contribute to the win. Credits to the whole team and especially Abdullah Shafique and Hassan Ali for making it easier. Extremely grateful to the people of Hyderabad for the amazing hospitality and support throughout.” On Saturday, Pakistan shamefully lost against India in a high-pressure game.
Meanwhile, Israel did not miss the chance and hit back at Rizwan by tweeting, “We were really moved by Indian friends showing their solidarity with Israel. We are happy that India emerged victorious in the #INDvsPAK match at #CWC23 and that Pakistan was unable to attribute its victory to the terrorists of #Hamas.” During the match, Rizwan offered namaz, while he was batting. Therefore, Indian fans too got into action and chanted ‘Jai Shree Ram’ when Rizwan got out and headed toward the pavilion. A complaint also has been lodged against Rizwan for offering namaz on the ground, with the ICC by SC lawyer. Stay tuned.
